Praying With Young Children

I remember reading from a children’s bible every night after supper growing up. By the time I was a teenager, I had a pretty decent understanding of the major stories in the bible (whether I wanted to or not). It gave me a great foundation for my faith life.

Jane and I have tried several times to do the same thing with our children. But we failed spectacularly (usually around day number 2 or 3).

O, What-The-Fonz? The O Antiphons!

I was introduced to the O Antiphons back when I was in the seminary. Something about them grabbed me. It was like I was holding a treasure, a piece of the depth and history of the Church, in my hands.

A Journey Through the Sacraments!

We just completed our Vacation Bible School (VBS) for this year. This past week, 70 children took over the church every morning for music, crafts, snacks, games, and discussion, all to learn more about the seven sacraments. It was a blast!

Hello Holy Family from Japan!

[Note: This post is written by Brandon Jean, former Coordinator of Youth Ministry, currently teaching English in Japan.]

I have arrived safely and I am starting to get settled in. I have been working at my schools already but I don't start teaching classes until September. I have already found a parish here and have been joining the locals for Sunday Mass. I purchased a book with the text of the Mass in 6 languages, including Japanese, romanized Japanese, and English, so I can participate too!
