I visited Nagasaki City for a second time and I made sure to visit the St. Maximilian Kolbe Memorial Museum.
My daughter Ava turned six this past weekend. After her birth, every other person we met told us to cherish these moments because “Kids grow up far too quickly these days!”

I will admit that at times I can be somewhat of a negative person, most notably, when the conversation turns to the weather. Many days I have sat and wondered why we no longer have those beautiful summer days of years ago.

I have arrived safely and I am starting to get settled in. I have been working at my schools already but I don't start teaching classes until September. I have already found a parish here and have been joining the locals for Sunday Mass. I purchased a book with the text of the Mass in 6 languages, including Japanese, romanized Japanese, and English, so I can participate too!
“Excuse me Sir, your dog just peed on my lawn!”
I stood there waiting as the large man walking the offending lap-dog turned around to face me four square. Being smaller than he, I puffed out my chest for effect and braced myself for a confrontation.
Through bath time adventures, my son Spencer (who is 18 months) has learned to hold his breath when water surrounds him (well, at times). A survival skill amongst many that children learn (and parents are happy they do).
