A few years ago Jane and I were talking about our bucket lists. I named a few things, then narrowed it down to just one: experience a total solar eclipse. We checked, and saw that one was coming up nearby in 2017. We started planning.

Then and Now.

Looking back.

Jane & I came to work at Holy Family in youth ministry and faith formation six years ago. Six years. It feels like even longer, probably because so much has changed. We started out sharing an office, one which for some reason had a ridiculously huge desk. I recall running up and down the stairs to get stuff from the printer, or to use the washroom, conveniently located right beside Deacon Bob’s desk. I’m sure he loved that.

Update on our Noah moment:

Many of you who were in the church this past Sunday morning may have been aware of a brief flurry of activity as staff and parish members scrambled to deal with a sudden and unexpected deluge of water. For those who were wondering what the problem was, here is a brief recap.

Are you thriving or just surviving? Do you desire a clearer understanding of God’s plan for your life?

This weekend workshop will help you to find your own inner answers, identify God’s voice in your life, and discover the specific purpose for which you have been created.

Praying With Young Children

I remember reading from a children’s bible every night after supper growing up. By the time I was a teenager, I had a pretty decent understanding of the major stories in the bible (whether I wanted to or not). It gave me a great foundation for my faith life.

Jane and I have tried several times to do the same thing with our children. But we failed spectacularly (usually around day number 2 or 3).

O, What-The-Fonz? The O Antiphons!

I was introduced to the O Antiphons back when I was in the seminary. Something about them grabbed me. It was like I was holding a treasure, a piece of the depth and history of the Church, in my hands.
