Pray at home.
Join the Mass or other prayers virtually.
- In addition to saskatoonmass.com, other options are also available, such as CatholicTV or Toronto's Daily TV Mass. Some may also work on a smart TV or streaming device (e.g. AppleTV, Roku, Amazon FireTV).
- VisionTV broadcasts the Mass daily at 6:00am and weekdays at 10:00am (SaskTel 23 / 323; Shaw 571; Bell 261). Salt & Light TV and EWTN also broadcast the Mass.
Pray the Rosary.
- It's a classic Catholic prayer for a reason. Our Mother is always ready to help us draw closer to Jesus.
- Need a little help? Here are some instructions, or a video introduction from Busted Halo.
- Apps are available as well, such as the one from the Rosary Army.
Try the Liturgy of the Hours.
- The Liturgy of the Hours is one of the official prayers of the Church. It is a way of breaking up the day with prayer and dedicating it to God.
- For an overview, try these videos: Praying the Liturgy of the Hours and How to Pray the Liturgy of the Hours. If you'd prefer a book, check out Daria Sockey's excellent The Everyday Catholic's Guide to the Liturgy of the Hours.
- To get familiar, try Keep the Lord's Day. It has a bit of a walkthrough for Sunday's Morning Prayer.
- Various apps and websites are available for those who don't have the books, such as iBreviary and DivineOffice.
Check out Worship@Home with your family.
- It's a free online resource to help families with children pray together at home while we are unable to gather for Sunday Mass, right from their iPad or phone.
- It gently coaches parents and their families through the age-appropriate prayer experience, and even makes it a little fun.
Pray as you go.
- Pray as you go is a daily prayer session, designed to go with you wherever you go, to help you pray whenever you find time, but particularly whilst travelling to and from work, study, etc.
- It's an excellent guided introduction to Lectio Divina, an amazing form of prayer based on the scriptures. Short, simple, and powerful.
Grow in faith.
Watch something awesome on FORMED.
- We've already paid for our parish to have access. If you don't yet have an account, simply go to formed.org and sign up. Search for us (e.g. "Holy Family Saskatoon") and create a free account.
- "Opening the Word" is a great reflection on the Sunday readings.
- "Cat.Chat", "Brother Francis", and "Ryan Defrates: Secret Agent" are wonderful options for kids.
- "Presence: The Mystery of the Eucharist" is particularly fitting in this time when we cannot receive communion physically.
- Have a family movie night.
Reach out to others.
- Check on your friends, neighbors, and relatives - maybe even your enemies.
- Chat over the phone, Facetime, Skype, etc.
- If you're healthy and able, consider offering to pick up some groceries for those who are homebound or quarantined.
- Remember, if you are sick, even a little, please stay home.
Pick one of the many, many other options.
- A Catholic podcast, such as Adventures in Imperfect Living or Clerically Speaking.
- Shows from The Catholic Channel on SiriusXM (available by subscription online or in your vehicle), such as The Catholic Guy Show or The Jen Fulwiler Show.
- Salt & Light TV or EWTN.
- Repent & Submit on CatholicTV.
We will do our best to keep this list updated as the days and weeks progress.
